JOEL SHAPIRO
BIO
(b. 1941, New York City) Joel Shapiro received a B.A. (1964) and M.A. (1969) from New York University. Since his first one-person exhibition in 1970, Shapiro’s work has been the subject of nearly 150 solo exhibitions and retrospectives. His work can be found in over ninety- five public collections in the United States and abroad. 2010 marks his 11th solo show exhibition of new works at Pace Wildenstein and an exhibition of early works at Paula Cooper Gallery which span the years 1969-1979.
